Now, I know what you might be thinking: 'Stuffed pasta? Sounds like a lot of work!' But trust me, the joy of biting into a perfectly filled manicotti shell is absolutely worth the effort. Plus, we’re keeping it light and healthy, because that's how we roll here at Menuistia!

The Magic of Manicotti

Manicotti is like the blank canvas of the pasta world, waiting to be filled with deliciousness. And what could be more delicious than a savory mix of Italian sausage, melty cheeses, and herbs? It’s like a party in your mouth, and everyone's invited!

Here's a peek at what makes this dish so special:

  • Sausage Sensation: We’re using Italian sausage because it brings both the spice and the savory notes. We will make sure it's lean, so we’re keeping our recipe healthy and nutritious. Don't worry if you don't have the Italian hot variety, any tasty sausage will do.
  • Cheesy Dream: A trio of mozzarella, provolone, and parmesan cheese comes together in this recipe to create a gooey, melty delight.
  • Easy Peasy Filling: With the addition of breadcrumbs and egg, our filling is perfectly bound and easy to stuff into those manicotti shells.
  • Sauce Boss: We’re topping it all off with your favorite spaghetti sauce—homemade or store-bought, the choice is yours! It’s like the finishing touch on a masterpiece.

How to Get This Party Started

Ready to make some magic? Here’s the lowdown on creating this delicious dish:

  1. Pasta Prep: First, we’ll get our manicotti shells boiled until they’re slightly tender. We’re talking al dente so they’re easy to handle and stuff, but not mushy.
  2. Sausage Time: While the pasta is cooking, we'll brown the sausage in a pan. Once cooked, drain the grease and set aside to cool slightly.
  3. Mix It Up: We'll mix the cooled sausage with mozzarella, provolone, breadcrumbs, and eggs. This is where the magic starts to happen.
  4. Stuff and Layer: It's time to carefully fill each manicotti shell with our savory sausage mixture and layer them in a baking dish with some pasta sauce on the base.
  5. Bake it Beautiful: We'll add the rest of the sauce and then bake this gorgeous dish until it is cooked through and the cheese is perfectly melted. The kitchen is about to smell amazing!
